Giving birth to my 2nd child was something I thought I would be prepared for especially after having a C-section with my 1st born, I wanted to go natural the second time around. I became nervous thinking about the pain I was about to endure. I never experienced labor pains with my 1st child. At this point, I had doubts about the pain I was about to endure with natural child birth. It was time to delivery and I thought I would be prepared, but the labor pains turned out to be unbearable. I remember sitting in the hospital bed with my 1st born craving for a chocolate éclair ice cream. I had many visitors that day and asked one of them to go to the vending machine to get me a chocolate éclair ice cream. After eating that ice cream maybe an hour later the doctors came in the room and examined me and said they was ready to induce my labor. Right then and there I knew it was the ice cream. I never forgot the myth someone told me if I eat a chocolate éclair ice cream I will go in labor. It all began on March 28, 1997; I was sitting in my living room with my family mobbing around about how my child was overdue. I was miserable and ready to deliver. By the end of the night after walking my family to the door I remember telling my uncle I’m going to have this baby tomorrow. He looked at me astonished and asked, “Are you in labor?”, and I kindly responded, no, but I will be tomorrow and then closed the door. After everyone had left the apartment, I called my fiancé to pick me up a chocolate éclair ice cream because this baby is late and I’m ready to deliver. When he arrived home, I snatched the ice cream out the bag and ate it. He looked at me and began to laugh. I laughed also and responded we will have our baby tomorrow.
