Introduction
A number of scholars have reasoned that the complex nature of the visual arts provides an excellent platform to actively engage students in critical and creative thinking. However, the discipline alone can’t be charged with achieving this. Teachers must also create opportunities for developing thinking. Art teacher can’t assume that teaching facts and critical and techniques skills is adequate to the task, since students need to be guided to develop their abilities to reason, enquire and form concepts. Therefore creative thinking is the formation of possible solutions to a problem or possible explanation of a phenomenon. It entails bringing into being of something which did not exist before, either as a product, a process or a thought, or working on old with a view of producing a harmonized new. While critical thinking is the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing , applying, analyzing, synthesizing, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, as a guide belief and action. Development of thinking requires a gradual process requiring ground for learning and just plan hard work. It is not possible to become an excellent thinker simply because one wills it, changing one’s habit of thought is a long- range project, happening over years not weeks or months. They require a longer period of development. Creative and critical thinking plays many important roles in students or even the generation as a whole in institutions. Some of the reasons why we agree it should be made mandatory are the following: Critical thinking is a domain-general thinking skill.

The ability to think clearly and rationally is important in whatever we choose to do. If you work in education, research, finance management or the legal profession, then critical thinking is obviously important. But critical skills are not restricted to a particular subject area. Being able to think well and solve problems systematically is an asset for any career. Critical thinking is very important in the new knowledge economy. The global knowledge economy is driven by information and technology. One has to be able to deal with changes quickly and effectively. The new economy places increasing demands on flexible intellectual skills, and the ability to analyze information and integrate diverse sources of knowledge in solving problems. Good critical thinking promotes such thinking skills, and is very important in the fast- changing workplace. Critical thinking enhances language and presentation skills. Thinking clearly and systematic ally can improve the way we express our ideas. In learning how to analyze tee logical structure of texts, critical thinking also improves comprehension abilities. Critical thinking promotes creativity

To come up with a creative solution to a problem involves not just having new ideas. It must also be the case that the new ideas being generated are useful and relevant to the task at hand....
