Introduction Having read the Honda (A) story from a consulting company without the insight of the real players, this Honda (B) is different version of the story. It is more factual, personal and touches the business instinct of a Business entrepreneur. Honda Motor Co. founded by a hardworking yet exploiting and known figure called Soichiro Honda post WWII. It is a story of a company that started from scratch with no significant scientific nor management bases. Despite the small start, luck and opportunity together with hard work and perseverance led to one of the most successful business journeys in the world and for the purposes of this paper the US in particular. It was a great surprise to know through the interview of actual Honda executives that USA entry point was based on the culture and mercurial personality of the founder “Success against all odds”, in other wards “let us go do it, whatever it takes”. Rather than on sophisticated managerial and financial studies. Case Summary

Opportunity, technology and hard work are the main keywords in this case. Soichiro Honda since its founding in 1946. This is the real start as Soichiro started the business with a research institute! Soichiro started with imitating the normal means of transportation in Japan, mopeds at the time. He developed his Honda mopeds into motorcycles with two stroke engines. After his business partnership with Takeo Fujisawa, who was strong in marketing, financial and management experience, they developed both on the technical/technological side and on the management side. On the technological side they developed the four-stroke engine, horse power doubling, 100 cc Supercub, different cc engines from the 100 to the 300 cc motorcycles and finally the racing motorcycles that took first place in difference competitions, which was the dream of Soichiro Honda.
