Libya and Syria: A Crisis Engineered

The situations that occurred in Libya and are presently occurring in Syria are much distorted in majority of the population’s eyes, with loose details and misinformation being preached by politicians, reported by the mainstream media, and discussed internationally. One key guide to being informed and understanding the events that took place is to realize that living in a certain part of the world shifts your views and the influences apart of that culture or society may distort ones thoughts on the crisis that took place overseas in the middle eastern/African countries of Libya and Syria. Grasping the conflict with an open mind and conducting research, one can acquire suppressed information that’s specifically meant to remain shy of the popular topics being debated in the world of the media and in openly discussed politics internationally. Through numerous research sources, the main point will be to show and prove that intervention in the Libya crisis and the Syria crisis are an extremely dangerous idea and are backed by imperialistic views and the desire for power. Though these rebellions that have been occurring can have a clear cut purpose to remove their benevolent dictators, Gaddafi or Assad, they have merged into western backed forces consisting of extreme Islamist views and goals to implement Sharia law. With the main stream media’s absence to report truth and valid information on these events, many people have become one sided not understanding the views from the other side and have been fed lies with the appearance of truth.

The crisis or rebellion that is occurring in Syria is similar to the one in Libya, except that Syria had a much longer time period to prepare for an event like this where as Libya had minimal time. When comparing the two, it is clear that both occurrences had very similar motives and funds. The people backing the rebels in Libya are the same people backing the rebels in Syria and the rebels themselves in Syria make up a portion of the Libyan rebels at the time. As for the international response to both, they are pretty accurate as well; only that Libya was acted upon more quickly, especially with their no fly zone.

What one must look at first, is how reliable and trustworthy are the rebels in Syria and what makes them reliable. Unfortunately, majority of these rebels that promote revolution in Syria are not actually from Syria, but hired mercenaries that happen to be Jihadists or members of Al Qaeda that come from other parts of the Middle East. As reports begin to spread that maybe these rebellions are engineered by western and other powers, more information comes to light supporting these thoughts.

Taking a look at the Syrian situation now, one can depict how such events are very similar to the “1957 Anglo-American assassination plot directed against the Syrian president, with a view to implementing ‘regime change’. The similarity to today’s war on Syria is striking.” This article shows that British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan and US President Dwight Eisenhower planned for a regime change in Syria through funding from MI6 and CIA officials and would require a rebel force that would be called Free Syrian Committee and would be funded to assassinate the Syrian President.1 Similar to events today, where CIA officials have been granted access to aid and train Syrian rebels due to an order President Barack Obama signed in August, this “directive permits the CIA and other US agencies to provide assistance to help oust Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.” What is even more similar is that the rebel army in Syria today is called the ‘Free Syrian Army’ where as the 1957 document called for naming the rebel force ‘Free Syrian Committee’, hardly a coincidence. Seeing as though this rebellion in Syria may have been already on the ‘to-do list’ for the Americans and the British, depicting this as an engineered crisis is not too farfetched.
