Women in the experimental group had significantly higher posttest scores for breastfeeding knowledge compared to the control group. At 3 days post partum and one month postpartum, the experimental group had significantly better attitudes about breastfeeding and satisfaction with breastfeeding. The rate of exclusive breastfeeding was higher in the experimental group, though this difference decreased by one month postpartum. There were no significant differences in breastfeeding problems between the two groups at 3 days postpartum or one month postpartum. Implications to Nursing

This study emphasizes the importance of prenatal breastfeeding education for expectant mothers. Education is a major responsibility of nursing and prenatal breastfeeding teachers will often be nurses. The study also presents an outline for a prenatal course, which can be utilized in practice and studied further in patient care settings. General Strengths of article
