The Right To Choose To Not Wear a Helmet

Barry Millman wrote the article “ Motorcycle helmet law a no-brainer to both sides”, which expresses an argument from two different opinions about a controversial issue. The United States is known by the freedom, which is given to the entire citizens to express his or her own opinion. Therefor Americans will bring up their opinion toward any situation. Today the debate is among a law that was repealed on July, 2000, which consists in that the government of the state of Florida allows riders 21 and over to go helmetless as long as the carry at least $10,000 in medical insurance. This law should be remain perhaps regardless of whether riders use a helmet or not, there will not be a big difference in the result of an accident, some riders believe that is a right from Americans to have the chance to be able to choose whether or not they want to wear the helmet, and being the driver of a car causes one to have distractions then a motorcycle riders has. Wearing a helmet dose not prevent drivers to a fatal accident or death. This theory is supporting by “an experiment at Bowdoin College in Maine several years ago, a professor took a standard four pound U.S Department of transportation approved motorcycle helmet designed to withstand an impact of up to 14 mph before shattering and found that at slower impacts of 13 mph where the helmet doesn’t split open, the force it absorbs simply transfers the energy of impact from the human head to the neck, easily breaking it.” according to Millman’s article. One example is the lost of the mother of one of my friends, who died by an accident while she was practicing for a completion riding her bicycle wearing a helmet.
