A Tragedy That Will Never Be Forgotten:
September 11, 2001
The Unites States of America faced the largest loss of life on its own soil as a result to these hostile attacks. The terrorist attack left an emotional crisis for America. Although a decade has passed, America has not overcome the disbelief that occurred on that particular day. President Bush declared this attack as a “War on Terror”. This paper will explain how 9/11 affected me personally and how have it change the country. I will also explain how 9//11 affected America relationship with other countries. On September 11, 2001, nineteen terrorists associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airliners and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States. Two of the planes were flown into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, a third plane hit the Pentagon just outside Washington, D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania (http://www.history.com/topics/9-11-attacks ) .The attack resulted in massive deaths and devastation and triggering major U.S. initiatives to combat terrorism. Thousands of people were kill during this horrible attack in Washington, D.C. and New York City, including more than four hundred police officers and firefighters. This event affected me in many ways. I was a senior in high school when this tragedy event took place. I remember the principal coming across the intercom instructing all faculty members to turn on the televisions. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. My heart missed a beat because most of my family on my father side resides in Trenton, New Jersey, which is only about two hours away from New York. The clips from the news played over and over in my head as if I was having a dream and couldn’t wake up. I couldn’t understand why someone would want to carry out an act that was so outrageous. I became overwhelm with fear and anger because so many people lost their lives and so many lives...
